Minor Flood Warning for the Kiewa River

Issued at 9:48 am EST on Thursday 24 August 2017
Flood Warning Number: 11

No significant rainfall is forecast for the next few days.

Kiewa River downstream of Mongans Bridge:
Minor flooding is continuing along the Lower Kiewa River around Bandiana.

The Kiewa River at Bandiana is currently at 2.85 metres and steady. The Kiewa
River at Bandiana is expected to remain above the minor flood level (2.80 m)
into Friday.

Flood Safety Advice:
SES advises that all community members should:
Never walk, ride or drive through floodwater
Never allow children to play in floodwater
Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain
Keep well clear of fallen power lines
Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may
contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks, and heavy rainfall increases
the potential for landslides and debris across roads.

for the Mallee, Wimmera, Northern Country, North Central and North East
forecast districts.

Please be aware
Temperatures at ground level can be many degrees lower than those recorded by
standard weather stations, especially in calm conditions with very clear skies.


Severe frosts with temperatures down to -3 degrees which can cause significant
crop damage are forecast for Friday morning in parts of the North East forecast
district.

Frosts with temperatures down to -2 degrees are forecast for Friday morning in
parts of the Mallee, Wimmera, Northern Country and North Central forecast
districts.

No further warnings will be issued for this event.
